Jensen Huang: Blackwell chips are "definitely possible" to enter China, and is optimistic about China's AI market growing by 50% next year.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said it's "definitely possible" the company will introduce its advanced Blackwell processor to the Chinese market. He also called on the US government to open market access for American chipmakers.

Jensen Huang also predicted that China's AI market, the world's second-largest economy, will grow by 50% next year.

"The possibility of us bringing Blackwell chips to the Chinese market is real," Jensen Huang said during Nvidia's latest quarterly earnings call on Wednesday (August 27). "We just need to continue to emphasize that American technology companies must be able to stay ahead and win in the AI ​​race, and that it's crucial to promote the American technology system as a global standard."

From July to August of this year, Jensen Huang personally visited the White House to secure export licenses for Nvidia's H20 chip, which is currently in use for the Chinese AI market. In August, the White House announced that US President Donald Trump and Jensen Huang had reached an agreement: Nvidia would receive an export license for its H20 chips in exchange for paying 15% of its sales in China to the US government.

After the meeting, Trump stated that he was open to a deal involving Blackwell chips. Blackwell is Nvidia's latest generation of AI chips and currently accounts for the majority of the company's data center revenue.

If Nvidia plans to launch Blackwell chips in China, it could generate significant sales, given that Chinese AI developers tend to choose the most powerful chips. However, to comply with US export controls, Nvidia would need to modify the Blackwell chips for the Chinese market, reducing their speed in certain performance dimensions.
